Success for Seniors in Spain

 December 1st        race

Several club members made the journey down to Toledo in Spain last weekend, to take part in the last round of this year’s City Race Euro Tour series of long-distance urban races.

It turned out to be one of the best Euro Tour events for quite a while. The medieval heart of old Toledo is a huge network of steep alleys. Well-planned courses mixed complex navigation with some testing “through or around” route choice legs. Overnight rain cleared away before the first starts, but left the cobbled lanes slippery until they dried in the cold crisp sunshine.

Conditions clearly suited Luxembourg orienteers. Stand-out results were André P, 5th in Ultravet Men and close on the heels of at least one World Masters medallist, and José P (possibly with a touch of home country advantage?) coming 3rdout of 12 in Hypervet Men, the over-75’s class. Valérie A was towards the top of the pack in Supervet Women, and Maggie R put one over on several of her UK-based rivals in Ultravet Women, coming in 8th out of 30.

The 2026 Euro Tour series visits Warsaw, Munich – and Tbilisi – in the spring. Will Luxembourg Orienteering be represented there?
