Luxembourg Orienteering Celebrates 10 Years
What a difference 10 years make! Over the last decade, artificial intelligence has evolved from a niche technology into a mainstay in our lives; electric cars have become mainstream vehicles on the road; 5G has taken over data networks; and Luxembourg Orienteering has developed from a tiny club founded by a few enthusiasts into a powerhouse with over 150 members, 5 Jukola participations under our belt, two Top-6 finishes at the European Youth Orienteering Championships and over 100 events organized.
Yesterday we marked the club’s 10th birthday with a training run in the streets of Bertrange, which attracted 44 club members and friends, and a convivial dinner at the Am Bureck restaurant with many of the 20 founding members in attendance. Ten years ago, none of us could probably imagine that we will one day be organizing an Interland race for five other regional federations; that the Luxembourgish colours will be flying over not just veteran, but also youth championships; that our jersey proudly sporting the Luxembourgish lion will become a household sight in Belgian and French forests.
For the next few years, we have our work cut out for us: securing forest access in Luxembourg; finalizing our full IOF membership bid; expanding our membership base; attracting more youngsters. But yesterday, we celebrated our formidable achievements and reminisced about the good times we’ve had with our beloved sport. Here’s to the next 10 years!
