Meet at

The park across rue Luxembourg from the church, in the centre of Bertrange, on the SW side of the rue Atert car park. Look for the LuxOC beach flag.

Parking – adjacent.

Public transport – City Bus 6 (comes from Kirchberg), at 17.36, 17.51, 18.01, 18.11, 18.21, or 18.36 from the “Hamelius quai 2” stop, or City Bus 5, at 17.30, 17.45, 18.00, 18.15, or 18.30 from the “Monterey Quai 2” stop near the “Hamilius” tram stop. Stay on either bus until it terminates, both at the “Bertrange, Gemeng Quai” stop, about a 20-minute ride (Bus 6 goes via the City Concorde shopping centre, Bus 5 is more direct). 

Or Train (Line 50 to Kleinbettingen/Arlon) to Bertrange-Strassen, at 17.23, 17.32, 17.53 or 18.23 from Luxembourg Gare – a 7-minute ride. Go under the subway, and walk south for 150 metres along rue de la Gare, then turn right along rue de Luxembourg for about 600 metres

Facilities

None at all. The event will be outdoors, based on a park bench, or a parked car if wet.

Start times

18.00 until 19.00 (at the latest). Sunset is at 19.11, the later you start, the darker it will be! Controls will be removed starting at 20:00, please be back by then.

Entries

No fee – but please sign up via the Calendar on the Club website, saying which course you would like to do. Or let orienteer@orienteering.lu know at least a day in advance if you plan to come, and are not a LuxOC member. 

Start point

Start and finish are both within 100 metres of the meeting point.

Format

Two courses

    Rabbit   3.0 km [TBC]– medium, minimal climb

    Deer      5.0 km [TBC]– longer, minimal climb

Straight line distances given – optimum routes are +/- 50% longer.

Controls must be visited in the order set. Flags are 15cm kites.

Timing

Timing at each control using SPORTident (SIAC enabled). Bring your own SI timing chip if you can, but if not, you can borrow a LuxOC one. Results of all participants to the nearest second will be published, and included in the LuxSUL league table.

Map

1:7,500, ISSOM-ish, 5 metre contours. Laser-printed, on Pretex semi-waterproof paper.

Terrain

Mostly flat residential urban streets, and some small paths. No hills! Street running or training shoes optimal.

Safety

Everyone takes part entirely at their own risk. Please take great care, especially on or crossing the more main roads – you do not have priority! High visibility clothing strongly recommended.
